Proposed closure of Church House Surgery
Af ter much deliberation the doctors at Tonbridge Medical Group have asked NHS England for permission to close our branch surgery at Church House. While these premises have served the patients for many years they do not comply with current legislation in terms of:
Ø Disabled access and facilities
Ø Health & Safety for patients and staff
Ø Ability to provide effective infection
Ø Facilities for parents and children
It is our intention to continue to see our patients
who regularly attend Church House in our surgeries at Pembury Road and Higham Lane. We are urgently seeking a town centre site, where we can have premises built that will provide facilities to meet the healthcare needs of our practice population, both to-day and for the years to come.
Due to the age and design of Church House, the building does not lend itself to any form of upgrade that would bring it up to the standard required in 2014.
A recent NHS inspection has highlighted all of the above concerns and reinforced our own view that Church House is no longer “fit for purpose” in terms of the practice being able to provide the standard of healthcare, safety and security that we aim to offer our patients.
Extra sessions will be provided at both our existing sites to ensure that access remains at the current levels. The doctors who currently work at Church House will hold surgeries at both Pembury Road and Higham Lane.
We are asking you to support this change, and would welcome your views.
